Cees Sliedrecht

Cees studied at art academies in Rotterdam and The Hague, learning the master’s way. Cees runs his own Arts School in Brisbane and frequently lead workshops around Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Due to his National and International art exposure and his years of experience in teaching and practicing art, Cees offers students in his workshops a wealth of art knowledge and art application. Cees has won numerous awards, was among others president of the Watercolour Society in Queensland and was published in a number of Artist Magazines. Cees has held Solo and Mixed Exhibitions in Australia and Overseas and lectured art at Universities, Tafe Institutions and in public forums.

You will be amazed at what you can do at the end of the workshop, even when you are just starting out.

The studens will be doing a wide range of topics, up to two works per day including Urban, Landscape, Water scenes and time allowing birds/ animals.

Something for everybody.

Cees will bring in the varied topics at hand, so you do not have to worry.

The students will be developing both drawing and watercolour skills.

Recommended Materials

Materials

  • 4B Pencil, Any Colour pencils ( incl. lemon yellow)
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • A piece of white chalk
  • A candle stick
  • A couple of 0.4 or 0.5mm Black felt tipped drawing Pens, water resistant .  Preferred brand: Pentel S20P .  No markers please. A limited quantity available from the tutor at $6.00 per pen. Pls send me an email to keep it aside for you.
  • Small bottle of black waterproof, drawing  ink, branded Windsor and Newton/FW or AS.
  • One Fountain pen with pointed nib (no calligraphy nibs). A limited number of these fountain pens are available from the tutor for $20.00. Pls send me an email if you need one.
  • A3 size COMO or Field pad of Watercolour paper ( hot paper, smooth surface preferred) appr 225grms .Other brands of similar quality welcome. No Mont Marte or Reeves please. You will need at least 6,  A3 sized  sheets for our projects. Cees has an excellent pad available, 225grs, smooth, 25 sheets in one pad for $35.00.  Limited stocks so please pre order if interested.
  • Size 8, squirrel . NEEF  watercolour brush, shaped like a pointed cats tongue 4600 – 8    barcode: 9330173007386 ( the only brush you need and they are long lasting!)
  • A few, somewhat bigger than A3 laminated or ply sheets ( 40cm x 50cm) to be used as a backing board , to tape A3 paper onto to minimize paper wobbling and to secure a firm backing .
  • Masking tape ( 1 – 2 inch wide)
  • Small water container
  • Tissues
  • Watercolour palette with plenty of mixing space,
  • Watercolour tubes or tablets Brand Cotmans/W&N/Art Spectrum or similar ( No Reeves/ Marie’s/ Mont Marte or other primary school paints please)

  • Permanent rose
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Cad yellow
  • Hooker’s green
  • Yellow ochre

  • Instead of the palette and the colours, Cees has a travel kit with palette, lid, compact and 18 colours for sale for $50.00. Limited quantities, please order via email in advance if interested.
  • Please bring along a smartphone or even better an “ I- pad” to photograph images and to work from during practice sessions.
